IL VILLAGGIO DI RIJAL ALMA

The village of Rijal Alma is 45 km away from Abha. The village consists of 60 multi-storey buildings built in stone, clay and wood that look like many small forts.

It is a historically important village as it was an important stopover for those traveling from Yemen to the sacred cities of Mecca and Medina. And for this reason it had turned into an important trading center with goods that came from all over the world.

 

The external view of the village is a nice eye-catcher. Inside the buildings it is possible to admire the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the village. The site is awaiting approval to become part of the Unesco world heritage.
